i always thought better at night whether it was studying or just thinking about random stuff. it was always at night i had a clear mind to come up with ideas or just talk to myself. why is that?
i have a notebook beside my bed where i blindly scroll down my thoughts... whatever they may be. some see the light of day, others stay within the pages. i was thinking of buying those pens that light up when you write but i thought, nah, i might just get distracted by it. better na lang to write in the dark.
*baby lets out a short cry* my daughter is having another restless sleep tonight. she is not what you call a sound sleeper. she's too "active" a baby. you're lucky if you can get a two hour nap out of her during the day. at night, you have to tire her out before she goes to bed. which would be around 9:00-9:30. i know, i know, it's way too late for a baby to sleep but she's no ordinary baby...my mother-in-law can attest to that. my baby is a ball of energy. you can play with her for the longest time and ikaw ang susuko...no fail. malikot, makulit, madaldal, matakaw... all the things a toddler is...times 3. she can probably put a toddler boy to shame. my mother-in-law loves kids and has 5 of her own, 3 of them boys, and she said that "ngayon lang ako nakakita ng batang ganito sa buong buhay ko".
getting her ready to sleep requires strategy. first we start with dinner at around 6. she eats dinner when hubby and me get home. then one of us takes her out for a walk where she picks flowers and watches the neighborhood kids play. she eats again when my sister-in-law gets home. and may pahabol pa when my father-in-law comes in which is around 9. in between these mini-dinners she drinks a bottle of milk or water while running around the apartment. we give her a bath about an hour before bedtime para mahimbing ang tulog...yeah, right...in our dreams. we use everything to "soothe a baby"... a long warm bath with JOHNSON'S® BEDTIME BATH®, massage with JOHNSON'S® BEDTIME LOTION® and powder with JOHNSON'S® Baby Powder Lavender & Chamomile**...everything to ease her into bedtime mode... does it slow her down? nope. energizer bunny nga eh. my hubby and i have a description for her during times like this: She's sleepy but not ready to sleep. that sentence says it all. you know she's tired. you can see it in her eyes. she's extra-hyper which tells you she'll crash soon. so you take her in your arms and bring her to bed and if you're lucky, she'll pass out into blissfull sleep.
unfortunately, tonight isn't one of those nights by the way she's fussing now. i have a long night ahead of me.
'night everyone.
