***i'm writing this with half closed eyes as i struggle to stay awake...at work***
Clara likes to "help" her dad when he is washing the cars. Usually Daddy does this in the early evening when the sun is setting. Last weekend however he started late at night... late meaning around 9PM! It wasn't such a bad idea at first. The night air was cool and no sun burning on you. Clara spied her dad washing his car and insisted on helping out. I thought it would be ok as long as she had a hat on so she won't get "hamog" (night air). So off she went with a wet rag in her hand to wash daddy's car. When I walked out I noticed the night air was chillier than expected and coupled with the fact that Clara's clothes were getting wetter everytime she would squeeze water from the rag she was holding, I bet it was colder for her. I tried to get her back in the house to change her clothes but she was determined to finish only when her daddy was done. I thought she would be ok since she has been pretty resilient to colds and fever in the past so I let her play a little bit more. After about 10 minutes I coaxed her in the house, changed her into her pajammas and got settled in for bed.
At around 12:45 am Clara woke me up and I groggily noticed she was really warm. I thought maybe it was because she had a blanket around her. I was about to doze off when felt something really hot. When I looked it was the bottom of her foot pressed against my arm. I sat up and felt her forehead, her neck, her arms... HOT, HOT, HOT. I scooped her up and looked for the thermometer and got her temp. 100.3 degrees!
And so began our week of interrupted sleep. Clara is miserable with fever, runny nose and (I suspect) a sore throat. We're miserable that she's miserable... Care to join us?
